Wakefield Public Schools honors retirees and celebrates boys track team's championship

The Wakefield School Committee meeting on June 10, 2025, celebrated significant milestones and achievements within the district, highlighting the contributions of retiring staff and the success of student athletes.

A heartfelt tribute was paid to several retiring staff members, including Nancy DiTullio from the cafeteria, Donna Delaney, and Amy McCarthy, who were recognized for their dedication to the Wakefield Public Schools. Notably, Eleanor Asayan, with an impressive 53 years of service, was also honored. The meeting also showcased the accomplishments of the boys' track team, who recently won their second consecutive championship. Coaches Perry Pappas and Reuben Reynoso, along with team members, shared their excitement about the season, which saw participation numbers rise to over 70 boys and 60 girls, the highest since before the pandemic. In addition to the track team's achievements, the baseball team was noted for advancing in the state playoffs, and the middle school musical theater group received accolades at the METG Music Theater Awards for their production of "Frozen Junior."
