Carroll County honors 36 students as Carson Scholars at Maryland awards ceremony

The Carroll County Public Schools (CCPS) Board of Education meeting on June 11, 2025, highlighted the achievements of local students and the importance of community support in education. Newly appointed board member Jasmina expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the encouragement she received from her family and supporters.

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to recognizing the 36 students awarded the prestigious Carson Scholars honor. This award is given annually to students in grades 4 through 11 who not only excel academically, maintaining a GPA of at least 3.75, but also demonstrate outstanding humanitarian qualities. Each scholar received a $1,000 college scholarship, an Olympic-sized medal, and a certificate during the Maryland Carson Scholars Awards ceremony held in May.

The recognition ceremony allowed parents and family members to celebrate their children's accomplishments as each scholar was called forward. The honored students represented various schools across Carroll County, showcasing the diverse talent within the district.
