Penfield Board of Education celebrates student artists with Family First collaboration

The Penfield School District held its annual Student Art Showcase and Staff Recognition Ceremony on June 13, 2025, celebrating the artistic achievements of students and acknowledging the contributions of staff members. This event has been a collaborative effort with Family First Federal Credit Union for over 15 years, highlighting the importance of community partnerships in education.

During the ceremony, it was announced that one piece of artwork from each elementary school and two pieces from both Bay Trail and Penfield High School are selected annually for recognition. The selected artworks are professionally photographed, matted, and framed, with plaques detailing the student's name, grade, and year. This artwork is then displayed in the lobby of the Penfield Family First branch for the entire school year, allowing families and the community to appreciate the students' creativity.

A reception is hosted each fall by Family First, providing an opportunity for students and their families to view the displayed artwork. At the end of the school year, the pieces return to their respective schools, where they become part of the permanent arts collection.

The meeting also included acknowledgments of key individuals who contribute to the success of the arts program. The district expressed gratitude to Family First for their ongoing support and to staff members Mandy Saroise and Sue Vadikin for their efforts in coordinating the program.

As the ceremony progressed, students were invited to the stage to showcase their artwork, marking a significant moment of recognition for young artists and inspiring future creativity within the community.
