Weber School District names new online learning program to attract statewide students

The Weber School District is poised to launch a new online learning program, following its recent approval as a Statewide Online Educational Provider (SOEP). During the board meeting on June 11, 2025, Superintendent and committee member Blake Pope emphasized the importance of selecting a name that resonates with students across Utah.

Currently, the district operates two separate online programs for different grade levels, but the goal is to unify these under a single, impactful name. The previous informal title, "Innovation Online," was derived from its association with Innovation High School. However, as the district aims to expand its reach statewide, a more inclusive name is essential.

Pope highlighted the success of other programs, such as Utah Online, which effectively attracts students by clearly identifying its statewide presence. The board is set to formalize the new program name, which will help position Weber School District as a competitive player among the five current SOEP providers in Utah.
