Oceanside honors student athletes at annual recognition event

The Oceanside Board of Education celebrated the achievements of its student-athletes during the June 11 regular meeting, highlighting the exceptional performances of local talent across various sports. The recognition of these athletes not only honors their hard work but also fosters community pride and encourages youth participation in sports.

Among the standout athletes, Alexa Kozakowski was named the female athlete of the year, excelling as a county champion in the 100-meter hurdles and high jump. She will represent Oceanside at the state championships alongside Addison Vice, who triumphed in the 400-meter hurdles. The meeting also acknowledged numerous other athletes, including Andrew Dato and Ryan Cacarico in football, and Caitlin Harrington and Sydney Abbott in lacrosse, showcasing a diverse range of sports and talents.
