Tehachapi's summer fun is set to kick off with an exciting lineup of activities as the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District (TVRPD) prepares for its annual summer camps and events. Starting June 16 and running through August 8, families can look forward to a variety of programs designed for children aged 3 to 17.
The summer camps will feature three distinct programs: Tot Camp for ages 3 to 5, Regular Camp for ages 5 to 12, and a new Teen Camp for older kids. Tot Camp will focus on on-site activities, ensuring younger children can enjoy themed weeks without the need for field trips. Regular Camp will take place at Central Park and will include weekly themes, pool days, and field trips, with highlights such as a Harry Potter week and an outdoor adventure week where kids will learn camping skills.

Participants can earn stamps by attending various summer night activities, with completed passports entered into a raffle for prizes. This initiative aims to encourage community engagement and participation in local events.
The All American 5K, a staple of the July 4 festivities, is also on the horizon, promising a day filled with celebration. Furthermore, TVRPD is offering free evening and morning lap swim sessions as part of its Parks and Recreation Month activities, along with ongoing registrations for youth sports programs.
The summer fitness challenge, "Fit and Fun Under the Sun," will commence on June 23, building on the success of previous challenges that saw participants logging thousands of miles through walking, biking, and swimming.
With registration still open for many programs, families are encouraged to sign up and take part in the summer's offerings. For more information, residents can visit the TVRPD website or contact their office directly. This summer promises to be filled with fun, learning, and community connection for all ages in Tehachapi.
