City council approves Mica Moon's Riverfront Park zipline project and master plan alignment

Spokane's Park Board has made significant strides in enhancing community recreational opportunities, as discussed in their recent meeting on June 12, 2025. A key decision was the relocation of winter cross-country skiing from Indian Canyon Golf Course to Finch Arboretum. This move aims to provide a more accessible and user-friendly skiing environment, addressing past issues with maintenance and safety at the golf course. The new location offers better terrain and parking, allowing for a more enjoyable experience for skiers.

In addition to the skiing update, the board reported promising numbers for the upcoming swim season, with 472 lap swimmers already registered and 52 lifeguards certified. All aquatic centers are set to open on June 16, just in time for summer, which is expected to draw significant community interest.
