Madera County Library budget cut sparks call for enhanced community support

Madera County officials are taking significant steps to address community needs, particularly in the realm of library services, during a recent special meeting. The Board of Supervisors discussed a proposed budget for library services, which totals $2,271,004.91, reflecting a decrease of $39,002.53 from the previous fiscal year. This budget aims to streamline costs while maintaining essential services across all five library locations and the bookmobile.

Library Director Krista Riggs emphasized the critical role libraries play in the community, describing them as vital public infrastructure akin to roads and schools.
