Superintendent Dr. Hanahan responded at length, defending the administrative authority to set schedules and stressing that a board vote is not required for a new elementary schedule. \"A new provided a teaching schedule fits within the parameters of a collective bargaining agreement, the schedule is at the discretion of the superintendent of schools. So please understand, there will not be a board vote on a new schedule,\" she said. Hanahan also said the district is using 7 Mindsets as one resource within a morning meeting structure, that physical movement is incorporated into morning meetings, and that the district is cooperating with state officials: \"a parent has filed a complaint with the New Jersey office of controversies and dispute regarding the utilization of the morning minutes towards the health and physical education requirement of 150 minutes. The district has been working on a response, and we are cooperating fully with involved state officials.\"

The school business administrator, Mr. Smyth, addressed related operational questions raised during public comment, but primarily on procurement and records requests: \"For the current year... we have received 90 OPRA requests for the 24-25 school year. All 90 have received a response. District has provided 18,202 pages of documents in response to those 90 requests,\" he said. Smyth also clarified procurement options the district used for recent items on the agenda.

What was decided: The board moved and approved a consent agenda covering routine items on the meeting agenda (items 12–19) by roll call. Public commenters continued to press for more transparency and for the district to pause changes that affect specials and paraprofessional positions.

Next steps: Parents and community groups said they will press the district for a public meeting that provides the data, cost details and curriculum materials the district relied on. The superintendent said the district will respond to the state education complaint and that administrators will continue implementation work tied to district goals, while asking the community to review posted strategic-plan materials. The board did not vote to stop the schedule changes during the meeting.
