Santa Rosa partners with organizations for successful Farmers Market social media campaign

The City of Santa Rosa Economic Development Subcommittee convened on June 9, 2025, to discuss various initiatives aimed at enhancing community engagement and economic activity in the downtown area. A significant focus of the meeting was the recent launch of a pop-up farmers market, which has garnered positive community response and engagement through targeted social media advertising.

Rachel Beard, the program analyst, reported that the farmers market, which runs every Sunday through September, successfully attracted attention via Facebook and Instagram ads. The market saw over 7,000 views on Facebook and nearly 3,000 on Instagram, indicating a strong interest in local events. Community members expressed enthusiasm for the market, highlighting its role in revitalizing downtown Santa Rosa and fostering family-friendly activities.

The subcommittee also discussed the transition of event management responsibilities from the Santa Rosa Metro Chamber of Commerce back to the city. This shift, effective July 1, aims to streamline event planning and enhance collaboration with local businesses. Eric Knutsen, the city’s events consultant, emphasized the importance of focusing on quality over quantity in events, ensuring they benefit both the community and local businesses.

Additionally, the committee addressed the ongoing project related to the SAWA panels, which are set to be displayed in conjunction with a new fountain installation. The project has faced delays, but plans are in place to ensure the panels are showcased effectively, either temporarily or permanently, depending on the fountain's construction timeline.

Overall, the meeting underscored the city’s commitment to fostering community engagement through events and cultural initiatives while navigating the complexities of urban development and business collaboration.
