A new British cuisine restaurant is set to open at 213 Sixth Avenue, as Manhattan's Community Board 2 reviewed the application from Riviera LLC, doing business as Dean's. The proposal was presented by Neil Visaki, representing the restaurant's principals, Shai Bokeh and another partner, who have a strong track record in the industry.
Dean's aims to offer a unique dining experience in an area already bustling with eight other eateries within a 500-foot radius. The restaurant will occupy a compact 600 square feet, featuring a full kitchen, a small bar with six seats, and a total of 20 to 24 indoor dining seats. Operating hours will be from noon to midnight, seven days a week, with one of the owners present at all times to manage the establishment.
Visaki emphasized the straightforward nature of the restaurant's operations, noting there will be no TVs, live performances, or outside promoters, and only background music will be played. The restaurant's design will include operable windows, which will be closed by 10 PM to minimize noise and disturbances.
The application also clarified that the restaurant will occupy two connected spaces, with the smaller area designated for kitchen use only. This strategic choice aims to enhance the dining experience while maintaining a cozy atmosphere.
The board's discussion highlighted the applicants' experience and the potential for Dean's to contribute positively to the local dining scene. As the community awaits further developments, the opening of this new venue promises to add a fresh flavor to Manhattan's culinary landscape.
