Omaha celebrates 75 years of College World Series economic impact and community support

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners meeting on June 10, 2025, highlighted the enduring significance of the College World Series to the Omaha community, celebrating its 75-year legacy. Jack Diesing Jr., chairman of the College World Series of Omaha, Inc., addressed the board, emphasizing the event's substantial economic impact, which generates over $120 million annually and supports approximately 21,000 jobs. In addition to the celebration of the College World Series, the meeting included a public hearing regarding an application from Tyler Nelson to amend a special use permit for Nelson Produce Farm. The amendment seeks to extend music hours and clarify existing language in the permit. This application follows previous complaints from neighboring property owners, prompting the need for adjustments to the permit.
