The Worcester School Committee's Standing Committee on Teaching, Learning, and Student Success convened on June 13, 2025, to discuss significant developments in educational support and funding. A key focus of the meeting was the CPPI grant, which has facilitated enhanced special education services in collaboration with local community providers.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Marie Moss highlighted the positive impact of the CPPI grant, noting that it has allowed the district to hire a dedicated special education team. This team is currently serving 20 children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) at the Guild of St. Agnes and the YMCA, enabling these students to receive necessary services in their own classrooms rather than traveling to Worcester Public Schools.

Notably, CKLA curriculum kits have been acquired for 12 classrooms, with training sessions scheduled for educators to ensure effective implementation. Additional resources, including adaptive classroom materials and equipment for social-emotional learning, are planned for purchase after July 1.
The discussions underscored the importance of community partnerships in enhancing educational outcomes for students with special needs. The committee members expressed their support for the ongoing initiatives and the potential for further improvements in the educational environment.
As the meeting concluded, the committee emphasized the need for continued oversight of grant spending and the importance of maximizing resources to benefit students. The outcomes of this meeting reflect a commitment to fostering a supportive and effective learning environment for all students in the Worcester community.
