Commissioner Stout announces upgrades for former Western Playland at Esquarte Park

El Paso County is set to enhance its recreational offerings with significant upgrades to the former footprint of Western Playland, transforming the area into a vibrant festival space. The plan includes the installation of underground electric systems to support various shows and programming, promising a lively atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

In addition to the festival area, county officials are addressing the maintenance of the nearby lake. Commissioner David Stout announced a promising alternative to the previously considered draining of the lake for cleaning. After thorough analysis, it was determined that the clay liner at the bottom of the lake is intact, allowing for a more efficient dredging process to remove sediment without the need to drain the water.
