However, under this new proposal, students can take the GED while still participating in their high school environment. Successfully passing the GED can allow students to earn up to four credits in English language arts, depending on their individual needs.

Dr. Hall emphasized that the goal of the Focused Graduation Pathway is to keep students engaged in their education and ensure they graduate alongside their peers, rather than being pushed into adult education programs. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to addressing the diverse needs of students and providing alternative pathways to graduation.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of ensuring that students demonstrate a ninth-grade reading level to participate in this program, which is crucial for their success in the core subjects.
