Bel Air announces holiday closures and upcoming Independence Day parade details

The Town of Bel Air held a Board of Town Commissioners meeting on June 16, 2025, addressing several community updates and upcoming events. The meeting began with an announcement that all town offices would be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Residents were informed that recycling would be collected on Friday, June 20, while yard waste pickup would not occur on the holiday.

The commissioners discussed the need for sponsors and volunteers for the Bel Air Independence Day Parade, scheduled for Friday, July 4. Participants must register by Wednesday, June 25, with details available on the Bel Air Independence Day Committee website. The parade will commence at 6 PM, following a series of activities starting at 9 AM, including a flag-raising ceremony.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted the commencement of summer movie nights, organized by the Bel Air Downtown Alliance, starting on Friday, June 21, with a screening of Disney's "Wish" at Shamrock Park. Pre-show entertainment will begin at 7:15 PM, with the movie starting at 8 PM. These events will continue on the third Friday of July and August.

The Bel Air Farmers Market will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, June 21, from 8 AM to noon at the Mary Ristau Building parking lot. The anniversary festivities will kick off at 9:30 AM, showcasing local produce and goods.

A free event focusing on the importance of honeybees and pollinators will take place at the Hayes House Museum on Sunday, June 22, starting at 1 PM. This event is hosted by the Historical Society of Harford County.

The meeting also noted that the Cultural Arts Commission will convene at 4 PM on Wednesday, June 25, and the Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 6 PM on Thursday, June 26. A special meeting of the Board of Town Commissioners is scheduled for Monday, June 30, at 5:15 PM, which will include a public hearing on Ordinance 842-25 regarding cannabis dispensary regulations.
