Cornwall Central High School honors retiring educators Matt Cook, Brian Creedon, and Brenda Wright

The Cornwall Central School District Board of Education meeting on June 16, 2025, celebrated the remarkable careers of several retiring educators, highlighting their significant contributions to the school community.

Matt Cook, a dedicated educator since 1995, was honored for his extensive work in global studies and economics, as well as his role in introducing advanced placement courses. His leadership in the youth and government club and the Quiz Bowl team, which he led to consecutive championships, showcased his commitment to student engagement. Colleagues praised his deep connections with students and families, noting that many former students pursued careers in education and economics inspired by his influence. As he embarks on a new chapter, the community expressed gratitude for the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

Brian Creedon, another cornerstone of Cornwall Central High School, was recognized for over three decades of service. Initially drawn to education through a coaching opportunity, Creedon became a multifaceted educator, taking on roles such as teacher, department chair, and union leader. His impact extended beyond the classroom, having mentored national champions and played a key role in implementing significant changes to school schedules. As he prepares for retirement, he plans to return to construction, continue coaching, and travel with his family.

Brenda Wright, a math teacher since 1999, was also celebrated for her unwavering dedication to her students and colleagues. Transitioning to the middle school when it opened in 2003, she led her department to consistently high rankings in Orange County and New York State. Wright's advocacy for her students and her leadership during evolving educational standards were highlighted as key aspects of her career. As she steps into retirement, the community wishes her fulfillment in her new phase of life.
