Council member Jones highlights budget approval and Juneteenth celebration in city meeting

Revenues have increased to $2,525,856, while expenditures have risen to $26,357,200. In the water and sewer fund, the balance is $6,031,000, with revenues at $18,683,900 and expenditures at $14,399,700. The marina fund shows a balance of $957,700, with revenues totaling $708,600 and expenditures at $584,800. Mr. Abdi expressed gratitude to the council for approving the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on July 1.

Following the financial report, Police Chief addressed the council, clarifying misconceptions regarding a recent staged event featuring celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. He reassured the public that the event was not a real burglary and emphasized the positive exposure it brought to local businesses.

Council Member Jones then provided comments, thanking citizens for their engagement during the budget process and encouraging continued participation.
