Council approves sale for relocation of China Inn restaurant in Superior

During the recent Common Council meeting in Superior, Wisconsin, discussions centered on the relocation of the China Inn restaurant, a well-known establishment in the area. The council approved the sale of a property located at the northeast corner of Tower Avenue and a nearby street for $52,000. This decision comes as the China Inn seeks to move from its current location on Belknap Avenue due to lease changes.

Director Sook presented the details of the land sale, noting that the property is approximately 250 by 140 feet and currently houses supplies from Chippewa Valley Concrete, which will vacate the site by September. The new location is expected to feature a restaurant with significant banquet facilities, estimated to be between 4,000 to 6,000 square feet. The China Inn's owners are working with architects on the design and landscaping of the new venue.

Paul Stein, a representative for the China Inn, addressed questions from council members regarding the choice of this specific location. He emphasized that the site aligns with the restaurant's needs and is anticipated to generate increased tax revenues for the city. Stein also highlighted the potential for the new establishment to serve as a model for future development in the area and create additional employment opportunities.
