Carlsbad's Parks and Recreation unveils summer activities and Monroe Street pool update

The Parks and Recreation Commission of Carlsbad convened on June 16, 2025, to discuss various updates and upcoming events within the department. Upcoming events were a focal point of the discussion, with highlights including the Aloha Plunge on July 19, a luau-themed event at the Algonorte Aquatic Center, and the annual S'mores and Smores event at Aviara Community Park from August 9 to 10. The Leo Career Ranch Film Festival is also scheduled for September 5, featuring films inspired by Leo Kreo.

Todd Reese provided updates on ongoing construction projects, including the Monroe Street pool renovation, which is expected to be completed by summer 2026. He also discussed the progress on the Veterans Memorial Park project and the addition of pickleball courts at Calavera and Stagecoach parks, with design completion anticipated by the end of the month.

The meeting concluded with a report on a recent National Trails Day event at Kelly Trail, where volunteers participated in trail maintenance and educational activities focused on invasive species.
