The Granbury ISD Board Meeting on August 21, 2023, highlighted significant achievements by the Granbury High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (MCJROTC). The program, led by Lieutenant Colonel Casey and First Sergeant Rositas, has been honored as a naval honor school for the tenth consecutive year. This recognition underscores the program's excellence and commitment to leadership training.
Additionally, the Granbury High School battalion received the Marine Corps Reserve Association's Outstanding Unit Award for the third year in a row. This prestigious award is the highest recognition an MCJROTC unit can achieve, with only four units worldwide receiving it each year. This marks only the third time in the program's 23-year history that it has earned such a distinction, having been selected as the best among over 270 JROTC programs globally.
The board expressed pride in these accomplishments and plans to formally recognize the MCJROTC at a future meeting next month. This celebration will honor the dedication and hard work of the students and staff involved in the program, reinforcing the importance of such initiatives in fostering leadership and discipline among youth.
