Parks and Recreation Administrator Nancy Morgan requested award of the Gateway Fence Improvements Project to Marquette Fence Company for $102,685. Morgan told the council the work includes about 2,200 lineal feet of ornamental steel fencing to replace existing chain-link fencing along Hammond Avenue and near the Blotnik Bridge.

Morgan also presented the sign package. The sign at the foot of the Blotnik Bridge is a 28-foot-long stone-column feature with backlit lettering; the proposal includes landscaping. The East Second Street sign (near Belknap Street and the Bong Veterans Historical Center) is smaller to fit the site; both signs were described as including attractive landscaping.
