Centerville to celebrate grand opening of Corn Palace Park near Lawrence Expressway

Sunnyvale is set to welcome a new neighborhood park, the Corn Palace Park, located near the Lawrence Expressway, with a grand opening ceremony scheduled for tomorrow at 1:30 PM. This park, situated just south of the Caltrain Station and between Reid Avenue and El Camino Real, aims to enhance community access to green spaces.

The park's location is strategically placed east of Ponderosa Park, making it easily accessible for residents. However, attendees are advised that vehicle access is limited, with the best entry points being from Reid Avenue or Ponderosa Park. The design of the park includes considerations for safety, particularly for children, with discussions highlighting the importance of fencing along the Lawrence Expressway to ensure a secure environment.

During the meeting, commissioners expressed gratitude to outgoing member Commissioner Bonet for their years of service and contributions to the commission. The discussions also touched on the final utility bill insert that will be distributed to residents in July and August, which includes important information about road signs and bike routes, reinforcing the city’s commitment to promoting safe cycling and pedestrian practices.
