Eskenazi Health celebrates Juneteenth and Pride Month with community events

The Health & Hospital Corporation Board of Indianapolis convened on June 18, 2025, to discuss various initiatives and celebrate recent achievements within the community. The meeting highlighted ongoing advocacy efforts and upcoming events aimed at promoting inclusivity and cultural awareness.

A significant focus of the meeting was the celebration of Juneteenth, scheduled for June 18 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Eli Lilly and Company Foundation Concourse on the downtown campus. The event will feature educational displays about historically significant Black Americans and the importance of Juneteenth, alongside performances by spoken word artist My Own Voice and pianist Christopher Pitts, presented by the Marianne Tobias Music Program at Eskenazi Health.

Additionally, the Inclusion Council announced plans for an educational display on June 26 at the Fifth Third Bank Building, furthering their commitment to Pride Month. The board also reflected on their recent celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May, showcasing their dedication to recognizing diverse cultures.

The meeting concluded with commendations for Carlos Taylor, program manager at the Gregory S. Fairbank Center at Eskenazi Health, who was honored by the Mitch Daniels Leadership Foundation. The board also celebrated Eskenazi Health's recognition with the Liebert Weir Community Partner Award from the Indiana University School of Public Health.
