McIntyre fundraiser raises $17K for Pike County EMS training initiative

During the Pike County Commissioners Meeting on June 18, 2025, a significant highlight was the presentation by Mr. Oliver and Mr. McIntyre regarding the success of the recent EMS fundraiser. This event, the second annual charity golf tournament held in May, aimed to support the Pike Emergency Services Initiative, a collaborative effort involving local law firms, county commissioners, and the Greater Pike Community Foundation.

The initiative focuses on funding emergency medical services (EMS) training for local fire departments and volunteers, alleviating the financial burden of training costs. Mr. McIntyre reported that since the fund's establishment, all EMS training in Pike County has been covered, marking a notable achievement for community support and emergency preparedness.

This year’s tournament saw an increase in donations, raising $17,000 compared to $15,000 from the previous year. The success was attributed to generous sponsorships, particularly from Malibu Wellness Ranch and CMG, the ambulance contractor for Shaola and Dingman Townships. The total fund now stands at approximately $125,000, reflecting the community's commitment to enhancing emergency services.

The commissioners expressed their appreciation for the efforts made to support EMS training, emphasizing the importance of continued fundraising to ensure the program's growth and sustainability.
