Bullhead City promotes Rotary Park as premier outdoor sports and recreational destination

The Bullhead City Parks and Recreation Commission convened on June 18, 2025, to discuss various community initiatives and updates regarding local facilities and services. The meeting highlighted the importance of Rotary Park, a key recreational area in the city, and addressed waste disposal practices to maintain city infrastructure.

The session began with a reminder about the amenities available at Rotary Park, located at 2315 Balboa Drive. The park features 28 medium and small Robattas for barbecues, as well as two large ramadas equipped with power and water for larger gatherings. Open daily from 4:30 AM to 11 PM, Rotary Park serves as Bullhead City's premier outdoor sports destination, boasting six softball fields, a baseball field, a football field, and numerous courts for pickleball, tennis, and basketball. The park also includes a skate park, a disc golf course, and extensive walking and biking trails.

John Trequato from the city's wastewater division emphasized the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent sewer backups. He outlined that only human waste, toilet paper, and gray water should be disposed of in the sewer system. Trequato illustrated the issue by showing examples of inappropriate items found in the sewer, which can lead to costly repairs and maintenance, ultimately affecting taxpayers.

The meeting also covered updates on solid waste management, noting that Republic Services is contracted for trash collection within city limits. Residents are now using blue and green carts for trash, as recycling services have been discontinued. Trash collection occurs Monday through Thursday, with specific areas designated for each day. Residents are allowed six bulky item pickups per year, and they can schedule these services through the city’s website or by contacting Republic Services directly.

Rotary Park hosts numerous annual events, including soccer and pickleball tournaments, and serves as a hub for youth recreational leagues. The park's facilities and its proximity to the Colorado River make it a popular destination for both locals and visitors.
