Blount County approves funding for Pellissippi Parkway intersection project

The funds would only be released once the project receives approval from TDOT. The improvements, including the installation of a traffic signal, are expected to enhance safety for drivers navigating the busy intersection.

Despite the resolution's approval, some commissioners expressed reservations about the county's involvement in financial transactions of this nature, citing concerns over potential future requests from other developers. Commissioner Hannah proposed postponing the vote for further investigation, but the motion failed with a majority voting against it.

Ultimately, the resolution passed with 15 votes in favor and only 2 against, marking a step forward in addressing safety concerns at the intersection. The project is anticipated to streamline traffic flow and reduce accidents, benefiting the community at large.
