University of Nebraska Board of Regents honors exceptional staff with Kudos Awards

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents convened on June 19, 2025, to discuss various topics, including faculty recognition and updates on university initiatives. The meeting began with a warm welcome from President Gold, who introduced new and returning members, including Doctor Patty Bick, the incoming department chair for finance, banking, and real estate at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Following the introductions, the Board moved to the "kudos" segment, where they recognized outstanding contributions from university staff. The first recipient was Meredith DeHaven, an employment specialist at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Regent Schroeder presented her with a Kudos Award for her exceptional work in recruitment and her leadership during the implementation of a new recruitment system.

Next, Regent Wilkins honored Sue Ellen Pegg, recruitment coordinator for the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Pegg was recognized for her dedication to student success and her ability to foster collaboration among her colleagues.

President Kalamari then presented a Kudos Award to Paula Colas, director of financial aid at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Colas was commended for her extensive experience and unwavering support for students navigating financial aid processes.

The final Kudos Award was given to Abby Hendricks, director of events at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her efforts in creating memorable events and her commitment to teamwork were highlighted by her colleagues.

The meeting concluded with an acknowledgment of the recipients' contributions and a reminder of the importance of recognizing the hard work of university staff. The Board expressed gratitude for their dedication and looked forward to continued collaboration in the upcoming year.
