Levitt LA hosts free summer concerts at MacArthur Park starting July 1

The Los Angeles City Council meeting on June 20, 2025, highlighted several community-focused initiatives aimed at enhancing cultural engagement and promoting sustainability among residents.

One of the most exciting announcements was the launch of Levitt LA's summer concert series at MacArthur Park. Starting this Saturday, music lovers can enjoy ten free concerts featuring a diverse lineup that includes Latin soul, jazz fusion, Afrobeats, and electric rock. Supported by the city’s departments of cultural affairs and recreation and parks, and sponsored by Council Member Eunice Hernandez, these concerts aim to foster community spirit and provide accessible entertainment for all. The concerts will take place every Saturday at 7 PM, with a brief pause on July 5.

In addition to the concert series, Council Member Bob Bloomfield introduced a festive July 4th celebration at Warner Park. This event will feature a free concert and a spectacular 20-minute fireworks display, with food trucks and vendors on-site. The park can accommodate up to 40,000 attendees, encouraging residents to arrive early to secure their spots. The concert will include a tribute to the iconic band, The Doors, among other performances throughout the summer.

The meeting also announced the upcoming exhibition at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery (LAMAG), titled COLA 2025. This exhibition will showcase the creative works of the city’s independent master artists, running from July 17 to August 30 at Barnsdall Art Park. This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to supporting local artists and enriching the cultural landscape.

In a nod to environmental responsibility, the council reminded residents of the importance of water conservation. With the average Angeleno using about 89 gallons of water daily, simple actions like turning off the faucet while brushing teeth or taking shorter showers can lead to significant savings.

These initiatives underscore the city council's ongoing efforts to enhance community engagement through cultural events while promoting sustainable practices among residents. As summer unfolds, Angelenos can look forward to a season filled with music, celebration, and a collective commitment to preserving the environment.
