Muscatine City Council approves $400K Avenue Subs redevelopment and intersection safety study

Muscatine City Council has taken significant steps to enhance the downtown area and address traffic concerns during its regular meeting on June 19, 2025. A key decision was the approval of a project to renovate the long-closed Avenue Subs building, which will receive funding through a catalyst grant. The total estimated cost for the renovation is over $400,000, while the building's projected value post-renovation is around $200,000. Following complaints about the intersection's functionality, a traffic engineering assistance program was initiated to evaluate potential improvements.
