Roswell plans $5M upgrades for Historic Founders Park and Mimosa Hall events

The City of Roswell is moving forward with an ambitious vision for Founders Park, which aims to connect 24 acres of parkland in the heart of downtown. This initiative is set to enhance community engagement and support local businesses by creating a vibrant space for events and activities that have not been previously available in the area.

At a recent government meeting, officials outlined plans to invest approximately $600,000 in improvements to Town Square, Roswell's oldest park. Enhancements will include upgraded walkways, lighting, and furniture to make the space more inviting for residents and visitors alike. The acquisition of Holly Hill, which adds 5 acres of historic land, further expands the park's offerings.

Currently, construction is underway at Mimosa Hall, where a significant portion of the park's development is taking place. The project encompasses about 4.5 to 5 acres and includes the installation of essential infrastructure such as parking lots and stormwater management systems. This $5 million investment aims to prepare the area for future events while minimizing disruptions during construction.

A new special event facility is also being developed, capable of hosting 200 to 250 guests for weddings and other gatherings. The facility's location was carefully chosen to integrate with existing structures and minimize environmental impact, including selective tree removal to accommodate the new space.

City officials emphasized the importance of managing stormwater effectively, particularly in the historic district where such measures have been lacking. The improvements are designed to enhance safety and reduce flooding risks for nearby homes and neighborhoods.

Once the initial phase is complete, the city plans to implement a series of smaller projects, including a trail system connecting Holly Hill to Mimosa Hall and further linking Barrington Hall to Town Square. These developments aim to activate the park and support various community events, reinforcing Roswell's commitment to enhancing public spaces for the benefit of all residents.
