Chelsea Police Department honors Fernando and swears in new officer David Toranos

Chelsea City Council held a special meeting on June 23, 2025, where significant honors were bestowed upon local law enforcement personnel, highlighting the community's commitment to recognizing service and dedication.

The meeting commenced with a heartfelt tribute to Sergeant Sajid Camacho, who was honored for his exemplary service in the Chelsea Police Department. Camacho, a Chelsea High School graduate and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery in frontline combat. His promotion to sergeant earlier this year was celebrated with a pinning ceremony, where his wife Alyssa and daughters Tanari, Sienna, and Luciana participated in the honors. The council expressed pride in Camacho's continued commitment to education, having recently earned a master's degree in criminal justice.

In addition to Camacho's recognition, the council welcomed Officer David Toranos, a recent graduate of the Police Academy and a Chelsea native. Toranos was sworn in during the meeting, with his mother Marina present for the pinning ceremony.
