Cache County Council approves $286K budget amendment for public services and repairs

Cache County Council has approved a series of budget amendments during their regular meeting on June 24, 2025, totaling approximately $286,000 from the general fund. This funding will support various community services, including the hiring of two new sheriff's office employees, with costs covered by the Cache County School District.

Key budget allocations include $36,007 for the Municipal Services Fund, $4,600 for the Visitors Bureau, and $17,004 for the Senior Center. Notably, the Senior Center is set to receive an additional $7,003.56 to finalize the purchase of three vehicles, funded primarily through donations, and to repair a malfunctioning walk-in freezer essential for meal preparation.

The council also addressed infrastructure needs, approving funds for a sewer line repair, which is expected to save the county between $25,000 and $35,000. Additionally, $15,000 was allocated for legal fees associated with the personnel department, and $35,000 was designated for evaluating development requests.

Other significant discussions included a $150,000 allocation from ARPA funds for storm sewer projects and a $22,007.50 contribution to the South Valley Connector project, which is receiving substantial state grants. The council is also moving forward with plans for a fan upgrade at the indoor arena and improvements to the Deep Canyon Trailhead.
