On June 25, 2025, the City Council of Monticello, Illinois, held a rededication ceremony for a local park, honoring Pfc. Robert C. Burke. This event marked a significant moment for the community, celebrating both the park's renovations and the legacy of a local hero.

The improvements to the park are extensive, featuring a walking path, over 600 new trees and plantings, and enhanced lighting. New recreational facilities include a playground, an amphitheater with stone seating, a lighted basketball court, four lighted pickleball courts, and a lighted tennis court. Additional amenities such as a relocated gazebo, new park signage, a memorial plaza dedicated to Pfc. Burke, and bicycle racks designed by local high school students were also unveiled.

Pastor Paul Spangler from the First Presbyterian Church delivered an invocation, emphasizing the park's role as a space for community connection and recreation. He reflected on the sacrifices made by Pfc. Burke and others who served, highlighting the park as a tribute to their dedication and bravery. The ceremony included a presentation of colors by the Third Battalion, 203rd Marines, reinforcing the event's solemnity and significance.
