TABC honors long-serving employees Vic Wynne and Jose Serna at commission meeting

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) held its regular commission meeting on June 24, 2025, where significant employee service awards and commendations were presented. The meeting highlighted the agency's commitment to recognizing long-term service and exceptional contributions from its staff.

Director of Human Resources Amanda Fletcher introduced a new service award program that now acknowledges total state service, expanding beyond just TABC tenure. This change aims to honor employees with experience from other state agencies, while still recognizing those with 25 years or more of service at TABC during commission meetings.

Two notable employees were honored for their long service. Vic Wynne, who has dedicated 30 years to TABC, was recognized for her contributions as a data architect. Although she could not attend, her supervisor praised her instrumental role in the agency's data services. Wynne has received multiple awards throughout her career, including Employee of the Year and Outstanding Customer Service awards.

Jose Serna was also honored for his 25 years of service. Starting as a taxpayer compliance officer, he has risen to lead operations at one of the busiest ports in the nation. His leadership and commitment to mentoring his team were highlighted, along with his dedication to protecting Texas citizens from illicit beverages.

The meeting also featured a commendation for TABC agent Adrian Herrera, who received the Medal of Valor for his heroic actions during a shooting incident at Lakewood Church in Houston. Herrera's quick response and bravery in confronting the shooter were acknowledged as life-saving actions, earning him multiple accolades for his service.

The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude for the dedicated service of TABC employees and a commitment to continue recognizing their contributions to the agency and the state of Texas.
