Library Foundation appoints Kelly Pierce as new development officer

The Indianapolis Public Library Board convened on June 23, 2025, to discuss various updates and initiatives aimed at enhancing library services and community engagement. The meeting began with an update from the library foundation, which announced the appointment of Kelly Pierce as the new development officer. Pierce, who previously worked with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, will focus on managing donor relationships and leading the Friends of the Library program.

The foundation expressed gratitude to its 234 donors for their contributions in the past month, highlighting top corporate supporters such as Elements Financial, Humana, RiskCalls, Charles, and RJE Business Interiors. Notably, the foundation has provided over $212,000 to the library for programming, which includes initiatives like the East 38th Street Career Center and the summer reading program.

Following the foundation update, CEO Gregory Hope presented a confirmatory resolution (24-2025) related to financial, travel, and personal matters. The resolution was approved unanimously by the board members after a motion and second were made.

The meeting continued with a detailed agenda that included a program overview of typical library activities, updates on the summer reading program, advocacy efforts, branch visit summaries, staff recognition, and upcoming events. Additionally, Kim Muir, the Access, Belonging, and Culture Officer, was scheduled to report on the 2025 training initiatives.

Overall, the meeting underscored the library's commitment to community engagement and the importance of donor support in facilitating various programs and services. The board's approval of the financial resolution and the updates on programming reflect ongoing efforts to enhance library offerings and accessibility for all residents.
