Los Alamos County Council adopts land use changes and extends inclusivity task force charter

In a pivotal meeting on June 24, 2025, the Los Alamos County Council unanimously approved a resolution to amend the comprehensive land use plan, transitioning approximately 18,735 square feet of land from open space to institutional use. The council's session also featured a detailed presentation from the Inclusivity Task Force, which is actively working to enhance community engagement and inclusivity across various demographics. Councillor Reiting expressed support for the extension, noting the importance of thoroughness in the task force's work.

Additionally, the council approved a collective bargaining agreement with the Los Alamos Firefighters Association, which includes an 18% salary increase over four years. This agreement aims to improve recruitment and retention within the fire department by addressing previous pay disparities.
