Lemont hosts summer events including car shows and Independence Day celebrations

As the sun began to set over Lemont, excitement filled the air at the Village Board Meeting on June 23, 2025. Residents gathered to discuss upcoming community events and important local developments, creating a vibrant atmosphere of engagement and anticipation.

One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of the popular Wednesday night car shows, which will continue through August 27. This week’s event, scheduled for June 25, will showcase Jeeps, Broncos, and 4x4s from 6 to 9 PM in downtown Lemont. Village officials expressed hope for clear skies, as previous events had been marred by rain. Residents are encouraged to check the village’s website and Facebook page for updates and potential cancellations.

As the Fourth of July approaches, the meeting also served as a platform to promote Freedom Days 25, hosted by the Lemont Park District. A veteran's tribute is set for June 26 at the Lemont VFW, featuring complimentary food and drinks for active and retired military personnel, though registration is required. The festivities will continue with a kite-flying event on June 28 and culminate in a Star Spangled Splash pool party on July 3, followed by an Independence Day celebration at Centennial Park, complete with fireworks at 9:30 PM.

In addition to these summer highlights, the Forge Lamont Quarries will celebrate its fifth anniversary with Forge Fest on July 12, promising a day filled with live music, fireworks, and family-friendly activities, including a petting zoo and character meet-and-greets.

As the meeting progressed, the village clerk introduced an ordinance for the annexation of property at 14633 Main Street, marking a significant step in local development. The motion was supported by trustees, indicating a collaborative effort to enhance the community.
