Carson City Council plans July agenda and welcomes new city manager

Carson City is gearing up for a busy July, with a series of special events and significant planning discussions on the horizon. The Planning Commission meeting on June 25 highlighted upcoming activities, including the Fourth of July fireworks at Eagle Valley Golf Course and the Downtown Revival Car Show on July 12. Additionally, the Feisty Goat Pub will host a wine and beer sampling event at Mills Park on July 25.

The commission is also preparing for a packed agenda on July 30, featuring several special use permits. Notable proposals include a construction yard on Arrowhead Drive, a storage container review on Russell Way, and a childcare facility on Hot Springs Road. A Montessori school is also looking to establish a presence at the MAC on Russell Way, although it will not occupy the entire facility.

Another key item is a proposed new office building and parking garage for the legislature on East Sixth Street, which is part of ongoing construction efforts in the expanded downtown area. The commission is working closely with state partners to ensure the project aligns with urban development goals.

In addition to these developments, the meeting addressed updates to the city’s master plan, with new photographs and maps set to be uploaded to the city’s GIS system by July 1. A listening session is planned for August, inviting community input on the master plan changes.
