Another pressing issue discussed was the city's struggle to retain employees amid competitive wages offered by neighboring cities. Racine noted the importance of gradually aligning local salaries with those in Meridian and other nearby areas to reduce turnover and the associated costs of rehiring and training new staff.

As the conversation shifted to capital budgeting, Racine expressed a desire to improve accuracy in this area, which has historically seen a 65% success rate. He aims to raise this figure to 85%, ensuring that the city’s financial planning aligns more closely with actual expenditures. On the operational side, the city has maintained a commendable 93% accuracy rate, with aspirations to reach 95%.
