Memphis City Council honors Reverend John Frank Harris Sr and Lawrence Boo Mitchell

The Memphis City Council made headlines on June 24, 2025, by approving an honorary street name change to honor Reverend John Frank Harris Sr. The resolution, sponsored by Councilwoman Cooper Sutton, designates West and East Shelby Drive between Horn Lake Road and Hodge Road as Reverend John Frank Harris Senior Drive. This recognition celebrates Harris's over 60 years of dedicated service in Christian ministry, particularly at the Greater St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church, where he has been a transformative leader since 1969.

During the meeting, Councilwoman Sutton highlighted Harris's profound impact on the Memphis community, noting his commitment to spiritual growth and community initiatives that have uplifted many.
