Lakeville students earn 93 academic scholarships and lacrosse teams shine at state

Under the bright lights of the Lakeville Public School District's Board of Education meeting, a wave of pride swept through the room as achievements from the class of 2025 were celebrated. This year, 93 graduates were awarded academic scholarships, a recognition of their hard work and dedication to their studies. The scholarships were presented during senior awards programs held on May 12 and May 19, with 47 students from Lakeville North High School and 46 from Lakeville South High School receiving accolades for their academic excellence.

The meeting also highlighted the impressive athletic accomplishments of local teams. The Lakeville North High School boys lacrosse team capped off a remarkable season by securing third place in the Class A state tournament. After a thrilling victory over the Farmington Tigers in the section tournament, the Panthers advanced to the state competition, where they triumphed against the East Ridge Raptors with a score of 18 to 5.

Meanwhile, the Lakeville South High School girls lacrosse team also made their mark, finishing fourth in the state tournament. Following their own section win against the Farmington Tigers, the Cougars faced the Park Wolfpack in the state finals, concluding their season with a commendable score of 5 to 15.

In addition to team achievements, individual honors were bestowed upon three standout athletes from Lakeville South. Charlotte Fannin and Ella Mills were recognized as finalists for the prestigious Miss Lacrosse Minnesota award, with Fannin ultimately taking home the title after leading the state with an impressive 135 points this season. Kate Bale also earned accolades as the 2025 Miss Goalie Minnesota, marking her as the second athlete from Lakeville South to receive this honor.
