WeGo Board approves Obsidian insurance renewal at reduced costs

The Metro Transit Authority of Nashville has officially renewed its liability insurance with Obsidian, a company rated favorably by AM Best, during a recent meeting on June 26, 2025. This decision marks a significant step forward for the authority, as it will cover the entire fleet and is expected to result in a reduction in expenses compared to previous budgeting estimates.

In addition to the insurance renewal, discussions also touched on the budget for the transit policing unit, which has seen an increase in expenditures. This rise reflects a shift in funding from secondary employment coverage to direct support for the transit policing unit as it becomes fully staffed.
