Jefferson County Council approves $1M invoices and opioid settlement agreements

The Jefferson County Commissioners convened on June 24, 2025, to address several key administrative matters, including financial approvals and agreements aimed at enhancing community services.

The meeting began with the approval of minutes from the previous session, followed by a motion to approve invoices totaling $1,004,952.10 for the period of June 7 to June 21, 2025. The payroll for the same period was also approved, amounting to $338,666.29.

A significant discussion centered on a new contract with the Nutrition Group to provide meals at the Jefferson County Jail. The contract, set at $3.90 per meal, will run from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, with provisions for annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index. This contract continues the county's relationship with the Nutrition Group, which has been the current provider.

Another important agenda item was the memorandum of agreement with the Clearfield Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission. This agreement allows Jefferson County to share opioid settlement funds with the commission for drug and alcohol prevention and treatment services. The funds will first be allocated to meet Jefferson County's internal needs, such as drug treatment programs, with any remaining funds available to support the Clearfield Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission's efforts.

The commissioners also approved a routine agreement with Action Incorporated to administer the medical assistance transportation program for senior citizens, ensuring reimbursement for transportation costs through the PennDOT shared ride program.

The meeting concluded without public comments, and the commissioners moved to adjourn. The decisions made during this session reflect ongoing efforts to manage county resources effectively while addressing community health and safety needs.
