Grain Valley Schools celebrated a remarkable evening at the School Board Meeting on June 26, 2025, highlighting student achievements in speech and debate, Special Olympics, and language proficiency.

The spotlight shone brightly on the speech and debate team, with students like Sam, Chanel Reynolds, and Dylan Rasinski making waves at national tournaments in Des Moines, Iowa. Notably, Brooklyn Hedrick and Chanel Reynolds secured seventh place in dramatic interpretation at the MSHA state championship, while junior Dylan Rosinski earned sixth in humorous interpretation. Their accomplishments were met with enthusiastic applause, marking a successful season for the team.

Next, Amanda Christman, a coach for the Special Olympics, proudly recognized several athletes who represented Grain Valley at state competitions in bowling, basketball, and track and field. Athletes like Braden Armstrong, Jonah Ayers, and Kalejo Van Dine showcased their talents across multiple events, earning accolades and inspiring their peers.

The meeting also featured Mr. Kilpatrick, a Spanish teacher, who announced the recipients of the Seal of Biliteracy. Fourteen students achieved this prestigious recognition by demonstrating proficiency in both English and Spanish. This accomplishment not only enhances their college applications but also opens doors for potential salary increases in the workforce.
