Golden Museum of Contemporary Art enters concept design phase for new Boulder location

The Boulder Arts Commission meeting on June 25, 2025, spotlighted the exciting developments surrounding the new Golden Museum of Contemporary Art. The deputy director provided a comprehensive update on the project, which is currently in the concept design phase. This phase follows the completion of the program phase, as noted in last month’s meeting.

The architectural team, led by Brooklyn-based firm Soliel in collaboration with local architect Hilburn, is actively working on the layout of the museum on its designated site. The design process aims to integrate the museum seamlessly with the surrounding Art District, ensuring it meets the city of Boulder’s requirements.

Community engagement is a key focus, with plans for multiple small group discussions and a larger public event tentatively scheduled for September. This will allow residents to view the progress, provide feedback, and engage directly with the architects. The deputy director emphasized the importance of community input in shaping the museum's educational spaces and gallery layouts.

As the project moves forward, the anticipation builds for what promises to be a significant cultural addition to Boulder, with the next major milestone expected in the fall.
