Utah Department of Transportation announces major I 15 and Mountain View Corridor projects

Major transportation projects took center stage at the Utah Transportation Commission meeting on June 27, 2025, highlighting significant infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving capacity and safety across the state.

The commission discussed the ambitious I-15 reconstruction project, which will revamp the mainline from Farmington to Salt Lake City. This initiative includes replacing aging pavement and structures while widening the interstate to meet future capacity demands.

Another key project is the SR 177 West Davis Highway, which will extend the existing expressway to accommodate growth in West Davis and Weber County. This new route is expected to enhance traffic flow and support the increasing number of vehicles in the area.

Additionally, the commission addressed the need for passing lanes on I-15 from SR 13 to SR 240. This project aims to add a third lane between Brigham City and Honeywell, addressing the rising volume of traffic, particularly from trucks, and replacing outdated structures at the SR 13 interchange.

Logan's Main Street is also set for reconstruction, focusing on improving roadway longevity and enhancing mobility. The project will replace aging infrastructure, including storm drains and traffic signals, while optimizing traffic flow at key intersections.

The Mountain View Corridor project was another highlight, with plans to grade separate intersections and build a four-lane freeway. The project scope has expanded to include additional features like widened ramps and improved transportation connections, reflecting updated traffic projections and rising construction costs.

These projects collectively aim to enhance transportation efficiency and safety across Utah, addressing both current needs and future growth. The commission's discussions underscore a commitment to modernizing the state's infrastructure to better serve its residents.
