John Glenn High School honors student Davin Lee and master teachers Matt McGuire and Bliss

The Elwood Union Free School District (UFSD) Board of Education meeting on December 12, 2024, celebrated the remarkable achievements of students and educators, highlighting the district's commitment to excellence in education.

A standout moment was the recognition of Davin Lee, a student athlete praised for embodying the core values of John Glenn High School: kindness, inclusivity, and hard work. Coaches and staff lauded Davin as a role model, noting his humility and dedication to doing the right thing without seeking accolades. His achievements have set a high standard for future students, and his supportive family was acknowledged for fostering his character.

In addition to student achievements, the meeting spotlighted two educators, Matt McGuire and Timo Bliss, who were named Master Teachers by New York State. This prestigious designation is awarded to exceptional STEM educators who contribute to professional development and inspire future leaders in science and technology. McGuire, an educational technology specialist, has transformed learning experiences at John Glenn High School through innovative projects and mentorship. Bliss, dual-certified in science and special education, is recognized for her inclusive teaching practices and commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all students.
