John Glenn High School celebrates valedictorian Davin Lee's academic and extracurricular achievements

Under the warm glow of the John Glenn High School auditorium, excitement filled the air as the Elwood UFSD Board of Education convened on December 12, 2024. The evening began with heartfelt commendations, setting a celebratory tone for the meeting. Principal Corey McNamara took center stage, ready to honor the remarkable achievements of students who have made their mark on the school community.

Among the highlights was the recognition of Davin Lee, the school’s valedictorian for the graduating class of 2025. McNamara proudly shared Davin's impressive academic journey, noting his top weighted grade point average and his ambitious pursuit of knowledge. With a remarkable 14 Advanced Placement (AP) courses under his belt—some of which he taught himself—Davin is on track to achieve an average score of 5 on these challenging exams.

But Davin's accomplishments extend beyond academics. He has excelled in athletics, earning all-state honors in orchestra and leading his soccer team as captain. His prowess on the track has also been noteworthy, as he holds a school record and has contributed to his team’s county championship victory. In November, he was recognized as a News 12 Scholar Athlete, a testament to his dedication both in the classroom and on the field.

At just 16 years old, Davin stands out not only for his achievements but also for his age, being a year younger than his peers. As he prepares to graduate, his commitment to excellence serves as an inspiration to fellow students and the community alike.
