Omaha Board approves Hideaway Lounge and Mega Saver liquor license changes

Douglas County's Board of County Commissioners convened on June 24, 2025, to discuss several key issues, including legislative updates and public hearings on liquor licenses. This hearing faced complications due to a lack of notification to neighboring properties about the ownership change. Despite the business having previously sold liquor, the board expressed concerns about the notification process. After discussions, the board decided to keep the public hearing open and revisit the item on July 8, allowing time for proper notifications to be completed.

Additionally, the commissioners discussed the conclusion of the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) role and funding, set to end on June 30, 2025. The resolution aims to reassess the juvenile justice system's needs and explore new strategies moving forward. While some commissioners expressed concerns about the potential loss of expertise and continuity, others emphasized the need for a strategic plan to address current gaps in the system.
